2. localStorage (Not Cookies)

Instead of cookies, SammySam uses your browser's localStorage to store app data directly on your device. This includes:

• Your crochet progress (steps completed, time spent)
• App preferences (language, theme, notification settings)
• Earned minutes, streak data, and achievements
• Analytics consent preference

localStorage data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers unless you explicitly create an account to sync your progress.

3. Optional PostHog Analytics

If you opt in to anonymous analytics via the Settings page, we use PostHog Analytics. PostHog is a product analytics service hosted in the European Union. When configured for the EU region:

• Set any cookies
• Collect personal data
• Track individual users
• Use fingerprinting

PostHog collects aggregate, anonymized data about how users interact with the app — clicks, page views, and feature usage — to help us improve the product.

4. Optional Supabase Session Cookies

If you create an account (optional), Supabase uses session cookies strictly for authentication purposes. These cookies:

• Are necessary to keep you logged in
• Are not used for tracking or advertising
• Are deleted when you log out
• Are classified as "strictly necessary" under GDPR and do not require consent

5. How to Manage Your Data

You have full control over your data:

• In the App: Go to Settings > Delete all local data to clear all localStorage data instantly.
• Analytics: Toggle anonymous analytics on or off at any time in Settings.
• Browser settings: You can clear localStorage and cookies for sammy-sam.com through your browser's privacy or site settings.

6. Third-Party Services

The Vimeo video player, which we use for instruction videos, may set its own cookies when you watch embedded videos. These cookies are controlled by Vimeo and are subject to Vimeo's Cookie Policy. We have no control over these cookies. Vimeo Cookie Policy
